Attorney Trent Buckallew's Education
While all lawyers in Arizona are required to complete law school and pass
the bar exam, not all of them have the unique experiences and background
as Mr. Buckallew. In 1996, Mr. Buckallew graduated from Arizona State
University with his Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies. While there,
he made the Dean's List for the fall semesters of 1994 and 1995. He
was also the recipient of the 1996 ASU Regents Scholarship for academic
performance. Following his undergraduate work, he attended California
Western School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1999.
Similar to his time in Arizona, he excelled—making the Dean's
List and winning the
Am Jur Award for Juvenile Justice Law in the fall of 1997.
When he graduated with his J.D., Mr. Buckallew decided to continue on with
his education while simultaneously practicing law full time. He decided
to pursue a Master's degree in Forensic Science and graduated from
the National University in San Diego, CA in 2004. While pursuing his master's degree, he concentrated his academic
focus on psychology, psychiatry and law, as well as crime scene investigation—education
that is invaluable in his criminal defense practice. The program spanned
everything from toxicology to DNA to serology and trace evidence. As a
criminal defense lawyer, Mr. Buckallew is able to utilize this knowledge
and prepare more effective defenses, particularly when it comes to understanding
and analyzing forensic evidence in a case. Instead of relying upon outside
experts, he is able to draw upon his own knowledge.
Professional Training & Memberships
Throughout the years, Mr. Buckallew has participated in several different
forms of professional training to hone his skill as an attorney and ensure
that he is providing the best defense possible for his clients. This has

Skills Academy held at the California Western School of Law in May 2000.
In March 2001, he attended the Maricopa County Public Defender Trial Skills
Academy at ASU Law School and in May 2011, he participated in the Arizona
Forensic Science Academy. To Mr. Buckallew, continuing education is more
than just meeting a standard requirement—it is bettering yourself
as a lawyer to stay on the cutting edge.
Mr. Buckallew also maintains an active membership with the following:
- National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
- American Civil Liberties Union
