The Town of Carefree is home to nearly 4,000 residents and is situated in the foothills of the Sonoran Desert, about 30 miles to the north of its larger neighbors – Phoenix and Scottsdale. The safety of the town is overseen by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) under an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Town of Carefree. The MCSO District 4 substation is located at 37622 N. Cave Creek Road, in the neighboring town of Cave Creek. The town also has a courthouse, the Carefree - Cave Creek Consolidated Court which has been serving both communities since 2014. The courthouse is also located at 37622 N. Cave Creek Rd., Cave Creek, AZ. The Carefree – Cave Creek Consolidated Court handles all traffic, misdemeanor, town ordinance violations, and protective orders. If you have been cited by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for any misdemeanor violation, within the town of Carefree, you will likely be appearing in the Carefree – Cave Creek Consolidated Court. However, if you are facing felony charges out of the town of Carefree, your case will normally be filed in the Maricopa County Superior Court.
